He was born on February 21, 1989, as Brandon James Williams, in Kirkwood, Missouri, to Brad Williams Jr. and Shelly Washington, whom he calls his hero. Williams is nicknamed big baby and is very athletic. He had a difficult childhood, raised by a single mother and was homeless for a while, but that only helped him become who he is today.
The big baby attended Rockwood Summit HighSchool, Fenton, MO where he distinguished himself in the classrooms and on the field. Apart from football, he also played discus and basketball. He also recorded three tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks. Early in his second season, a back injury put him on the medical redshirt roster. In 2010, he became the third player to be named a three-time All-American in a Division 2 after leading the Lions with nine sacks and 17.5 tackles for the loss. In his freshman year as a junior, he was selected unanimously by the MIAA (All-Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association) and in his senior year, MIAA Defensive Player of the Year.
He finished his college career leading the school in sacks (27) and second on the team with 68 tackles, 31 solos, including 16.5 for a loss, as well as third in sacks and tackles for loss and the second in forced fumbles in the MIAA.
Brandon Williams was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the third round (94th overall) in the 2013 draft, the fourth player to ever be drafted from his school.
