Allie Grant Biography
Allie Grant was born on Valentine’s Day 1994 in Tupelo, Mississippi. She is the daughter of Bob and Angie Grant. From a very young age, Grant knew she wanted to be an artist, and her parents supported her every step of the way.
At the age of 3, she had already gone to the Model and Talent Show in Dallas, Texas. Allie recalled that when she was a child in a family with very funny people, she used to replicate what she watched and tried to replicate various accents accordingly.
In high school, Grant participated in variousschool plays. However, her love for performing and her busy schedule never affected her studies as Allie became the go-to for her class of 2011.
Grant officially started his career in 2005, just before the age of 11. His first gigs were appearances on two of Disney’s biggest shows at the time – The Suite Life of Zack & Cody and It’s So Raven. In the first instance, she appeared in 4 episodes playing the character Agnes who had a crush on Zack and Cody. Her favorite and most memorable episode of the series, she said, was the one that involved a game scene where they had to fight.
In 2005, Allie landed the role of Isabelle Hodes in Weeds. Her role as Isabelle Hodes was originally intended to be a recurring one, but after the first and second seasons, Celia and Dean Hodes’ impeccable portrayal of the lesbian daughter saw the role evolve into a major for 3rds, 4th and 5th seasons in 2009. Grant appeared in a total of 8 episodes. The dark comedy-drama will run for 8 seasons and will end in 2012.
As a cast member of the series, Grant was nominated twice in 2007 and 2009 by the Screen Actor’s Guild (SAG) for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.
After his gig with Weeds ended, Grant made his film debut in the comedy film Fanboys. Her role as the curly-haired Kimmy was only a small one. The Fanboys have performed the likes of Jay Baruchel, Dan Fogler and Kristen Bell. Veteran actor William Shatner made a guest appearance in the film. The film was a commercial flop, grossing only $960,000 against a budget of nearly $4 million.
Also in 2009, Grant made his stage debut in How I Learned to Drive, at the Chandler Theater Studio in North Hollywood. Her next gigs will include the 2010 film The Runaways, as well as a guest role as Julie in Private Practice. Grant then enrolled in a summer program at the prestigious Harvard University.
Her next big gig was the lead role of Lisa Shay in Suburgatory, an ABC sitcom that aired for 3 seasons and 57 episodes before being canceled. Of this batch, Grant’s character appeared in 52 episodes. In 2012, she took time out to play the role of Remy in the comedy-drama film. Struck by Lightning which also starred Chris Colfer. Like his first film, Struck by Lightning was also a box office flop.
Since then, Grant seemed to have turned his attention to the small screen. She had guest appearances in Red Band Society (2014 episode “Know Thyself”) and the 2015 Grey’s Anatomy episode “How to Save a Life.” Grant had a recurring role on The Goldbergs as Evelyn Silver for 9 episodes from 2015 – 2016.
