Victoria driver found dead after crash outside of Geelong

A man has died after his car careened off the road before crashing into a paddock outside of Geelong.

Emergency services were call to Clyde Hill Rd at Bannockburn shortly after 7am on Saturday after reports of a car being found.

The driver and sole occupant – a 50-year Russels Bridge man – was tragically found dead at the scene.

Police believe the vehicle had come off the road before crashing into a tree.

The exact circumstances of the crash are unknown though, with police investigations ongoing.

The death is the 146th of Victorian roads in 2023 so far, according to police.

Only 107 had died on the road at the same time last year.
