National Girlfriend day is said to be celebrated for expressing gratitude for your Girlfriends. It is unknown who created National Girlfriend Day on August 1, but the most substantial claim seems to arise from Mistress Susan, who runs a luxury website. It was said to have been created in 2004 to express gratitude among the friend's group. The Edinburgh Seven were female friends who fought to become the first women to go to medical school in the U.K. in the 1860s. Even though they studied medicine, the University prohibited them from graduating and becoming doctors. Several events like this led to the formation of National Girlfriends Day, and this became a huge opportunity to say thanks or express gratitude among your girlfriends.
