Angelina Jolie Voight, American, born June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles, California, is an American actress and filmmaker, daughter of award-winning actor Jon Voight. Jolie has been recognized with the Oscar, the American Academy of Motion Picture Sciences Award, two Screen Actors Guild Awards and three Golden Globe Awards, and has been one of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood.
Angelina Jolie began her film career at the age of 7 thanks to her participation alongside her parents, Jon Voight and Marcheline Bertrand, in the film Lookin’ to Get Out (1982).
Upon finishing her studies at the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute, the actress eager to achieve her own success, renounced her last name in order to succeed on her own.
In the 90s, she began a career as a model and traveled through London, New York and Los Angeles. She also appears in music videos by the Rolling Stones and Lenny Kravitz. In 1993 she became the protagonist of the film Cyborg 2 (Crystal Shadow) .
Playing with the Heart (1998), The Bone Collector (1999) and Out of Control (1999) are some of the films in which she participated before rising to fame thanks to the Oscar she received for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Girl, Interrupted .
In 2001, Jolie entered the world of action by playing the famous virtual heroine Lara Croft in Tomb Raider , the film adaptation of the video game of the same name, and two years later in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life .
During the filming of these productions, Angelina Jolie fell in love with Cambodia, where she adopted her daughter Maddox. Thus, the actress begins a more mature stage and changes her seductive image to that of a goodwill ambassador of the United Nations for Refugees (UNHCR).
She also accepts more mature roles in films such as Amar Dangerously (2003), Todo corazón (2007) and in productions by renowned filmmakers such as: Oliver Stone, in Alexander the Great (2004); Robert De Niro, in The Good Shepherd (2007), and Clint Eastwood, in The Substitute (2008).
This did not stop her from continuing to play more commercial roles such as in Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005) – where she meets her ex-partner, Brad Pitt – and Wanted (2008). Meanwhile, she lends her voice to cartoons such as Lola from The Shark Scarer (2004) and the tigress from Kung Fu Panda (2008).
In 2010, the actress reunited with director Phillip Noyce, with whom she worked onThe Bone Collector , in Salt (2010), a thriller in which she plays an agent pursued by the CIA. That same year, she stars alongside Johnny Depp in The Tourist (2010).
After a four-year absence as an actress, Angelina returns to the big screen starring in the live action version of Maleficent (2014).
The actress has also begun a career as a director, of which she has already presented four films: In the Land of Blood and Honey (2011), Unbreakable (2014), Frente al mar (2016) and First they killed my father (2017). .
In addition to her film career, Jolie is noted for her humanitarian efforts.
Jolie has been married to actors Jonny Lee Miller, Billy Bob Thornton and Brad Pitt.
