Biography & Age
It is difficult to determine the exact moment in which Alex Gaskarth’s life when he decided to become a musician, but it is a conviction that began in his teens. Alexander William Gaskarth, was born on the 14th day of December 1987 in Essex, England. Although an Englishman is a birthplace, Alex is actually an American from Baltimore, Maryland, consisting of his parents, Peter Gaskarth and Isobel Gaskarth. Alex spent the first six years of his life in Essex County before the family moved to the United States. Not much information is known about his parents, but he grew up with two half-sisters and an older half-brother. All indications suggest that he is the only child his biological parents shared.
High school is when teenagers typically begin to discover themselves and identify with their interests. The case was no different for Alex Gaskarth and although pursuing his interests kept him from going to college, this decision was the best for him so far.
It’s not uncommon for newly formed bands to start out as cover bands, covering popular songs for gigs. Some of them come out and make their own music, some don’t. Alex was part of a group formed during his time in high school, the Crew Fighters. The band, which lasted a year, performed covers.
While at Crew Fighters, he met JackBarakat who, after noticing his talent and songwriting skills, encouraged him to form his own band and compose original songs. Alex, ever ready to get closer to the pot of gold, took the advice and formed a band including Jack Barakat, Zack Merrick and Rian Dawson, who left Crew Fighters with Alex to join the new group.
The new group was called “All Time Low” and was created in 2003. They signed their first music contract in 2004 with Emerald Moon Records and launched their musical project, an EP called “The three words to remember to face at the end”. They did all of this impressively while still in high school.

All Time Low was signed to Interscope Records in 2011 and subsequently released their fourth studio album. The band only released one album under Interscope before returning to Hopeless Records, which they had left signed to Interscope. Till date, the band has released seven studio albums, consistently charting on the Billboard 200. Alex Gaskarth, who is the band’s lead songwriter and lead vocalist, is behind the hit All Time Low.
Apart from his music, Alex is also a great host, having hosted the Alternative Press Music Awards 2015/2016 and co-hosting the Full Frontal podcast.
